Sat Space Africa expands African VSAT network with Johannesburg Hub
Port-Luis, Mauritius: Sat Space Africa Ltd. the growing provider of reliable IP connectivity over satellite, fiber optic and wireless networks throughout Africa has announced the expansion of their VSAT HUB service for Africa with the launch of their new iDirect HUB in Johannesburg. This hub is an extension of the global iDirect VSAT HUB network operated by Sat Space Africa from their Network Operations Centre in Windhoek, Namibia.
The latest addition to the Sat Space Africa network is a strategic move to enable customized cost effective and reliable IP communications for customers anywhere in Africa to communicate to their South African based offices, data centers or the Internet. Those customers who want to grow their African footprint with rapid expansion capabilities will find the new offering very flexible and attractive.
Providing high quality services is a top priority for Sat Space Africa and the introduction of the new hub in Johannesburg further supports that drive by offering direct South African based interconnection to networks at the Teraco Data Centre in Isando or by using the Sat Space Africa MPLS service that has POPs in a number of African countries. This is especially suitable for private VPN, voice or transactional online system users.
The new iDirect HUB in Johannesburg uses capacity on the Gazprom Space Systems’ Yamal 402 Ku-band satellite at 55˚ East with its excellent coverage of southern and sub-Saharan Africa.
Sat Space Africa is offering customers the full range of iDirect modems with flexible data speeds and packages to suit their business requirements.
Customers requiring enterprise connectivity will be able to obtain these services directly from Johannesburg (Teraco Data Centre) from where it can be delivered on the Sat Space Africa MPLS network or handed over to the customer’s network of choice. The Sat Space Africa MPLS network can deliver services to any major city in Africa or Europe over fiber optic networks.
Sat Space Africa is committed to serve its customers with reliable and cost effective connectivity to support their business growth where it is required. The new HUB in Johannesburg is just one of the new initiatives to support the Sat Space Africa commitment. Customers looking for a viable alternative for businesses that are in need of online communication, but are hampered by the lack of terrestrial infrastructure due to high infrastructure costs and geographic challenges should find this offering attractive.
“We are excited to broaden Sat Space Africa’s activities in Southern Africa by providing reliable and cost effective connectivity to meet the needs of the rapidly expanding South African businesses into Africa, stated Shimri Lotan, MD of Sat Space Africa. “To confirm our commitment to our customers in South Africa we have appointed Hendrik Bezuidenhout as a senior Sales Director for South Africa in addition to building the new iDirect HUB.
