Mpongo Private Game Reserve hosts Birding Day
Bird lovers are invited to join the team at Mpongo Private Game Reserve for an important day of bird watching that will assist the Eastern Cape reserve in updating their winter bird list. The event takes place on Saturday, 29 June 2013.
“We have decided to host a birding day to update the birding list of Mpongo Private Game Reserve and also have guests come out and enjoy the natural surroundings of the reserve with its abundance of birdlife found on the reserve” said Rodney Gerhardt, General Manager of Mpongo Private Game Reserve, which is owned by Premier Hotels and Resorts.
“The aim of the birding event is to develop a complete birding list and we look forward to identifying the species for the winter period, hoping to capture unique species not recorded before or not seen very often. Ground Hornbills are being enjoyed at present and pairs of Crowned Cranes as well as Wattled Cranes have also been spotted visiting the area lately, which are not a common occurrence.” Gerhardt said.
