Rated one of the best road races for the past 10 years, the PPC Kremetart Cycle Race takes place from 8 to 9 June 2013, in the picturesque town of Louis Trichardt/Makhado and offers activities for the entire family, all ages and fitness levels.
For the avid cyclists, it is the opportunity to participate in South Africa’s only one-day-four-stage 175 km races. There is also a 70km race, kiddies race and a 10km fun race. For the more adventurous there is a mountain bike cross country race.
For PPC Cement, a dedicated supporter of the Kremetart Cycle Race, this is the second of a three year commitment as the main sponsor of the race. Sibongile Mooko, General Manager for Marketing Services at PPC said, “Prior to being the main sponsor, PPC Cement has been supporting the Kremetart Race for the past nine years and are committed to uplift the areas in which we operates in.
According to Limpopo Tourism Agency CEO Mr. Nocks Seabi “ Last year, the immaculate town of Makhado reported full occupancy during the weekend of the race in the formalized accommodation sectors, cyclists and spectators were booked as part as 60 km away from the race venue and the overflow were referred to neighboring School hostels and other informal accommodation establishments”.
He further said “We are very excited be part of this important tourism driver in our Province. The Tourism Information Centre in Makhado, which is our regional office, will once again be used as starting and finishing point of the race. We will continue to support and promote the race as an attraction for tourists in our Province and we are optimistic that all entrepreneurs within the town and the surrounding areas will benefit from the race. Our support will also ensure that the race grows in bounds to have more people coming our shores thereby growing tourism in our province”.
As a result, last year, the PPC Kremetart Cycle Race attracted close to 10 000 visitors and created over R20 million in local business development for the Louis Trichardt community.
“There was huge success in 2012 and PPC made it possible for us to take the race to a new level. This year, we aim to streamline the event and focus on the development aspect within our communities. We salute everyone who has been involved in keeping this the best race in South Africa,” said Stanley Thompson, PPC Kremetart Cycle Race Organizer from the P&L Cycling Club of Louis Trichardt.
The organizers have limited the entries to 1 200 to provide a successful, yet manageable race. So book your spot at the PPC Kremetart Cycle Race to avoid disappointment. Entries open on the 1 February 2013. For more information, visit www.kremetartcycling.co.za.
