Hansa gives Wonga Music high five!
Monde Mkhizwana was raised in Soweto and is passionate about music, particularly preserving the heritage of African ethic music.
This South African composer, drummer and music producer is best known for his work as the drummer for the internationally touring band known as Kwani Experience.
Monde is today the founder of Wonga Music, a music production company that produces original compositions and library music for motion picture and radio productions such as television and radio commercials. The studios are located in Dunkeld, Rosebank. But his journey began with studies at The National School of Arts in South Africa, where he majored in vocal studies, obtaining his National Senior Certificate in Popular music. He continued at The University Of Kwa-Zulu Natal where he obtained his National Diploma in Jazz and Popular Music.
“I ventured into music composition for television commercials and have worked with major advertising agencies as well as organisations such as The United Nations, UNICEF, Publicis London, Ogilvy Africa and Velocity Africa,” Monde said.
While Monde has enjoyed success with Wonga Music his true passion is his other business, Sample Africa. He travels across the African continent researching and recording African ethnic music for archiving purposes. “African music is slowly fading due western influence. My mission with this project is to preserve our musical history and heritage for future generations.”
Monde has had the privilege of working with some of South Africa’s greats such as Busi Mhlongo, Sipho ‘Hotstix’ Mabuse, Mabe Thobejane, Pops Mohammed and Africa Mkhize.
“My debut album ‘Music With No Name Vol.4’ is a remix album of African traditional music and was released on 2008 by well-respected record label MELT 2000 (Switzerland).”
Hansa Pilsener has recognized Monde as an achiever in their Cheers to the Dreamers campaign, which seeks to inspire South Africa’s aspiring entrepreneurs. “Monde will feature in a Hansa TV advert, along with Vuyo the original big dreamer,” said Hansa General Manager Khensani Nobanda. “By celebrating dreamers like Monde we hope to inspire all South Africans to take the steps to realize their own dreams.”
