Groenkloof Sandwich Baron under new management
Customers in the Groenkloof area can expect their Sandwich Baron treats to be layered with even more love, following a change of ownership that is resulting in considerably enhanced service and value. The team at Sandwich Baron Groenkloof welcomed new owners, Hugo and Louise Van den Dool, to the store in May 2013 and since taking over this husband and wife team has seen some auspicious growth.
“Our journey as Sandwich Baron franchisees has been promising to say the least. We have a great team on our side and supportive customers who have welcomed us into their community with open arms,” says Hugo.
The couple have had extensive involvement in the food industry before immigrating to the United Kingdom and later the United Arab Emirates. After spending thirteen years abroad, these home-sick jetsetters decided to return to South Africa and invest in a brand that promised long term growth.
“In the fast food franchising sector there are so many options to choose from. We decided on Sandwich Baron as we see the advantage in providing alternative fast food dishes that will appeal to the more health conscience customers out there. Aside from selling a healthier product we also believe we bought into a healthy business, which makes all the difference,” shares Hugo.
The Van den Dool’s believe their recipe to success lie in their constant involvement at the store, “Being hands-on in a business is not something to take lightly. The biggest mistake that franchisees can make is to be absent in the daily running of the store. Most even think that owning a franchise is a license to print money, however, we believe that only the individual is responsible for their own success.”
Hugo notes that aside from being involved at the store, they are a family centred team and consider their staff as family also. He concludes that he intends to encourage staff to realise the success of the brand through incentive programmes that will boost their morale. “To succeed in adhering to the brand’s impeccable standards and assure its success, the store needs every team member’s input and involvement as when staff are not motivated, it reflects in the quality of the service that they give our customers. By working together the store will be taken to a higher level and customers can be assured of good quality food.”
