Furniture Factory for disadvantaged youth needs your support
Sound Ideas Retail Company and DB International are tackling youth unemployment in our community by building a furniture factory. We will manufacture high-quality, affordable furniture for the middle income public. More importantly, we will create employment and provide a skills development platform for the impoverished youth in the area.
WHO ARE WE HELPING?
These people come from extremely harsh backgrounds, many of them growing up in child-headed households, surrounded by violence, drug abuse and crime. Most of them have either very basic or no education whatsoever. Most of them live on the streets. This factory will give these kids a chance at life that nobody else is willing to give them. Not only will it provide them with a living income that will enable them to provide food and housing for them and their families, it will also empower them with practical skills they will use to improve their living standards long into the future.
WHERE ARE WE NOW?
We have already started manufacturing furniture on a small scale, and have the basic tools we need. However, in order to start our recruitment process, we need commercial property, more equipment, and raw materials.
WE ARE CROWDFUNDING, AND WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT
The first R30,000 we raise will be used to secure a commercial property and purchase raw materials. (R20k for deposit and first month rent, and R10k for raw materials) Our ultimate goal is to raise R100,000. The additional R70,000 will be used to purchase additional equipment and raw materials. The more we raise, the more people we can train up and provide permanent employment to.
